Welcome...to my college experience!
Hi! My name is Ellen Franke. I am a graduating student at the University of Cincinnati in the College of Allied Health Sciences and plan to pursue a career in Physical Therapy. I will very soon complete my fourth and final year of my undergraduate college education and graduate in early May of 2015. After graduation, I will continue on as a University of Cincinnati Bearcat in their Doctor of Physical Therapy Program, Class of 2018. My graduate years will be spent completing coursework in the classroom and clinical rotations to apply the material I have learned directly to individual patients. I know these years will be filled with both challenges and triumphs, but I feel that I have been well prepared to rise to the occasion in order to succeed in the field. I am excited to take this next step in my life and look forward to all the people I will have the pleasure of meeting and serving in my future years as a healthcare professional.
Throughout my years of education, I have developed into a well-rounded individual who is motivated by my family, my values, and helping others. I attribute much of my success and growth to my family who has supported me throughout all of my failures and triumphs. I try to stay true to my beliefs and not fit into a particular mold due to someone else's influence. Finally, I want to treat others with respect and provide genuine care to those in need of my assistance. Particularly, I want to be involved in rehabilitation sciences as a Doctor of Physical Therapy helping individuals of all ages and injury variation recover to full health. Also, exercise has always been a passion of mine and I enjoy staying active in my everyday life. I enjoy encouraging others to do the same and using activity as an outlet to my crazy schedule. Exercise brings joy to my life and energizing me throughout the day. Therefore, I consider exercise to be a core part of who I am. If that were to be taken away, I would be missing a part of myself. I have experienced first hand what is is like to be physically incapable of performing physical activities you once were able to do; This is the key reason why I want to be a Physical Therapist. I want to be a road of hope for people who feel they have lost part of themselves do to injury. Through therapy, I can help bring back a pain free lifestyle in which where they can enjoy all in life that brings them happiness.
Background:
I grew up in Delhi on the westside of Cincinnati, where I attended Our Lady of Victory for elementary and middle school. I then continued my education at Saint Ursula Academy in East Walnut Hills. There, I was involved in many activities including the volleyball and swim teams, student ambassadors, and PAL mentors. I decided to attend the University of Cincinnati for many reasons including the academic program I was accepted to, the campus layout, and the close proximity to my home. As I continue to grow here at the University, my pride for the school only grows. I have loved learning to live on my own, experiencing new classes, and developing new friendships. Forever more, I will be proud to be an alumnus of this institution and am excited for my future as a continue on as a Bearcat in graduate school.
