English 102 Honors
During the 2011-2012 Winter term at UC, I took the English 102 Honors course with Professor James Knippling. The course continued my english curriculum after completing the 101 course in the 2011 autumn term. Throughout this course, I wrote, edited, and submitted four different essays. The topics for these essays were an image analysis, play analysis, song analysis, and research paper. Specifically, my image analysis was completed first and focuses on the advertising techniques used in a Skype ad, a relatively new technology program that allows one user to communicate with another user via instant messaging or video chat. My second paper explores the ideas of perception and reality in Tennessee William's play The Glass Menagerie. My third paper defines the impact Billy Joel's song "Only the Good Die Young" had on the people of its time as well as its road to popularity. Finally, my final research paper discusses the therapeutic treatment for myofascial pain known as dry needling. Overall, this course allowed me to further enhance my writing skills by challenging me to analyze various genres as well as synthesize multiple sources into a well organized research paper.
